![]() Create functional and artistic lathe turned objects in this 10 session class. This workshop examines the evolution of turning and explores how the lathe and its tools are used today to produce art and functional products. Topics include wood selection and preparation, tool choice, use and control, spindle turning, bowl and vessel turning, hollow turning, finishing. Students of every level are welcomed and are free to explore their own interests in a small class setting. Participants may select any 10 of the 12 available dates to attend. Students supply their own wood and finishing materials or may purchase from instructor. Ages 16 and over. Dates: Any 10 out of 12 Tuedays between January 15 and April 2nd, 2019. (Jan 15, 22, 29, Feb 5, 12, 19, 26, Mar 5, 12, 19, 26, Apr 2, 2019 (12 consecutive Tuesdays, no weeks skipped) Time: 9am – 3:30pm (6 hrs with 1/2 hr break for lunch) Number of Students: 3 max Tuition $700.00 ($700 / 10 days = $70 per day / 6 hrs per day = $12 per hour, A really good deal!) Same class as above. Except it runs on Thursdays in my studio in Poughkeepsie NY. Dates: Any 10 out of 12 Thursdays between January 17 and April 4nd, 2019. (Jan 17, 24, 31, Feb 7, 14, 21, 28, Mar 7, 14, 21, 28, Apr 4, 2019 (12 consecutive Thursdays, no weeks skipped) Note: The 3 students that I had in my Tuesday Fall 2018 class decided they wanted to come back for my Winter 2019 class. You will learn all the steps needed to create a functional lamp such as long hole drilling, spindle turning for the lamp shaft and faceplate turning for the base.
